Southern Conference to use StatBroadcast for 2014 Basketball Tournaments

SPARTANBURG, SC -- StatBroadcast announced today that it will provide live stats, mobile stats and media stats for the 2014 Southern Conference Basketball Tournaments, to be held this March in Asheville, North Carolina.

The 2014 Southern Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments will feature all 11 conference members in a single-elimination format. Both tournament winners will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The Southern Conference became the first league to hold a post-season basketball tournament in 1922 and has held it in each year since, making it the nation's oldest conference tournament. This year's tournament will run from March 7 - 10 in Asheville, North Carolina, with the men's games held at the US Cellular Center and the women's games held at Kimmel Arena.

The Southern Conference, also known as SoCon, is the fourth oldest major athletic conference in the US, formed in 1921 and consisted of many of the current members of today's ACC and SEC. Today, the SoCon has 11 members located in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, and sponsors 19 sports at the Division I FCS level; SoCon will add three more members in August 2014, bringing its membership total to 14 and expanding its footprint into Virginia.
